Events

1st Transnational Event

From 1-3 October 2024, the first transnational event, entitled "The heritage of Portuguese colonialism" took place in Lousada, Portugal. The public event included workshops, seminars, a roundtable as well as cultural visits, focusing on colonial history, the reconstruction of a collective memory and the dissonant heritage connected. 2nd Transnational Event 

From 10-12 December 2024, the 2nd transnational event of the EUrban DECO project took place in Berlin. There could be no more fitting place for the EUrban DECO Event #2: RE/READING THE CITY - Renaming streets and places as decolonial practice than the first German decolonial memorial "Earth Nest" by The Lockward Collective right at the entrance of Berlin Global Village. Hosted in Berlin by NGO NEST Berlin, the event brought together partners and target groups for three days of intensive seminars, workshops and tours  to explore how toponymy can give voice to alternative perspectives and promote an inclusive vision of urban history. Local Event

On 18 January, an educational meeting of the EUrban DECO project took place in Forlì with the aim to introduce the topic of colonialims in Italy. Diverse speakers approached the topic with different foci: Carlo de Maria focused on the different phaes, heritage and memory of Italian colonialism; Giulia Crippa presented on imagery and colonial propaganda.
