Guided tours along the ATRIUM route

Experiencing architecture and history

Forli

Forlì

A guided tour on the discovery of Italy’s 20th century history through the prism of architecture: the Viale Benito Mussolini (today Viale della Libertà) was a showcase of modernity and power of the Fascist regime. The grand boulevard from the train station to the Monument to the Fallen constituted a kind of prototype of the ideal Fascist town, a scenography to celebrate the regime by means of architecture. The itinerary along this unique boulevard reveals the history of architecture during the Fascist period as well as the concept of Fascist propaganda.

Forlimpopoli

Forlimpopoli

In the imagination of Fascist Italy, Forlimpopoli was a significant town for the construction of the Mussolini myth. How did the fascist regime use architecture to this end? The guided tour focuses on three locations: the former Teacher Training School, the former GIL building, and the former pumping station of the Spinadello Aqueduct.

Labin

Labin

The former mining town of Podlabin was built between 1938 and 1942, during Fascist rule in Istria, when the Italian government decided to establish planned towns in the style of Italian rationalism. Today, much of this heritage is being restored, involving a process of finding new meanings and new uses. The guided tour is a discovery of a town in transformation and focuses on three zones: Pijacal (the industrial zone), the central square (Square of the Minors) and the residential zone.
