LANDSCAPE IN A BOX
ATRIUM: Dissonant Landscapes
One of ATRIUM’s objectives is the development of cultural tourism focusing on the urban and architectural heritage left by 20th century totalitarian regimes. This edition of the project “Landscape in a Box” aims at exploring this difficult and uncomfortable heritage left on the streets of European cities, offering an opportunity of study and critical reflection on the regimes that have built it.
The purpose of the project is to explore the complexities of ATRIUM’s dissonant heritage within an approach of co-construction, involving three groups of students from three different secondary schools (in Forlì, Cesenatico and Bertinoro). The students have co-constructed narrations to promote and communicate this difficult heritage still present in their towns.
This educational experience aims at increasing the student’s ability to critically analyse fascism and understand how architecture was a fundamental instrument of education and propaganda used by the regime. By reinterpreting symbols left in the urban landscape by the Fascist regime, the students created three Landscapes in a Box dedicated to specific parts of the ATRIUM heritage.
Each Landscape in a Box contains a selection of ten objects able to tell each landscape within the peculiarities of its development, its actors and the experiences connected to it.
