Toolbox Dissonant Heritage
On 4 June, the Dissonant Heritage Action Group of the Culture and Cultural heritage Partnership of the Urban Agenda, an initiative promoted by the European Commission, brought together a number of experts in dissonant heritage relating to 20th century Europe. The objective of the workshop was to discuss the ‘Toolbox’ for local, national and international stakeholders prepared by the KITE communications agency on request of the Urban Agenda.
ATRIUM participated in the work with two members of the Scientific Committee, Patrick Leech (University of Bologna) and Stephen Gundle (University of Warwick). The workshop saw the participation of a number of people and institutions with whom ATRIUM has collaborated over recent years including Marie Louise Jansen of the Contested Histories project (also a member of the Scientific Committee of ATRIUM), Dora Ivanova of the Buzludzha Foundation and Alessia Zampini (University of Bologna). The workshop was held at the Forestry School near Bogensee, in a building which fittingly exemplified the dissonance of some of Europe’s difficult past. The School is now housed in the summer residence of Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels.
