Carbonia candidates for Italian capital of culture 2022
From coal capital to city of scientific research, where the coal mines are converted into museums. Ten years after having been awarded the prestigious European Landscape Award, Carbonia candidates for the title of Italian capital of culture 2022. The city of Carbonia passed the first step of the selection process, unfortunately not the second. Although the expected result was not achieved, the candidature was an important occasion to create synergies between culture, tourism and local development.
The application was articolated upon five pillars:
- Planned city: architecture and landscape
- City of art and theatre
- City of environment and sustainable energy
- City of history
- City of inclusion and territories
